I don’t know all the correct psychological terms, he has severe physical and sexual abuse, and he is CONFUSED. It’s turned into mania and manic. Times, sometimes, years of being ok, and then, off the deep end, and he goes to the point of death, before he, comes to, or snaps out of it, or wakes up, or figures out, he’s got a problem.
I don’t think he has multiple personalities; however, it is similar.

He probably really does read as gay, a lot. It means, he’s confused.
